Roadtrip 2023 Spring: Seaside - Waldport - Bend - Rock Creek Schoolhouse - Richland

Day 4 - Seaside to Waldport

Half Pint on a stick.

We have finally made it back to Five Rivers - near Tillamook. The last few tries, they've been closed, but not today!

The bags and bags of Single Origin patiently await our selections.

Hard to believe - but indeed - Hello Kitty has made it to seat cover ststus.

Downtown Tillamook - we're wondering if Dutch Brothers Coffee had to fight it out with the Dutch Mill when it came to business naming. Pretty sure Dutch Mill was there first.

Just a real beauty that's had lots of love and attention.

Much more of a lean - she'll be splat in the sand.

The daytime entertainment at Oceanside's beach: the awkward (and sometimes suicidal) landings amongst all the beachgoers, the tiny strip of sand, and blustery winds. They launch from that headland waaay in the distance, and can stay aloft for as long as they like or dare. But there are few places near a road where landings can be attempted, and this is one of them.

Our young Padawan wants a game of Leviball. Bet she can't remember how.

Nope.

A little better, but the correct zen-like calm, collected form is still missing.

That's it!

The top-secret Oceanside branch of the Wildfire Lab is in that bunker. Some mission scientists lounge on their sanity break in the sun outside, under the constant, watchful eyes of Security. Do not mess with Security. Soon enough, they will have to return to the insanity.

A pre-landing overflight determines the craziest possible way to land, scattering the most children and wrecking the most sandcastles. I am sure it is some kind of drinking contest.

Pussywillows pop.

Ground support.

The Landing Master approves. Clear for landing! Sort of!

Gulls at rest. Just like us - they're waiting for the opening bell at the Schooner.

Once again the Schooner delivers everything we could possibly want. Oysters Rockiyaki and a beauty of a bowl of calamari over an asian style slaw salad. We arranged our whole day to be here for the 4pm opening. We'll have a later arrival to our digs in Waldport - but well worth it.

Surfers line the parking lot at Cape Kiwanda - as always.

The massive grinning sushi chef that greeted folks to Seal Rock is gone - but the Luna Sea folks have seen to it that we are now greeted by a giant fisherman. This is a Luna Sea expansion - they still operate at Yachats as well.

The Sandcastles. All in a row.
